Maldon Inc. warms up winter with over 3 weeks of activities held in our beautiful town. This year's theme is designed to make us appreciate the wonderful historic buildings and landscapes in the goldfields region, and to think about future directions for our area.

Postcards from the Heart
Maldon Art Show Sat. 28 June-Sun. 6 July, Community Centre, Francis St. Open to public 11am-4pm, from Sun. 29 June. $2 entrance. Proceeds to local community groups.
Taste of Gold Wine & Food Festival Sun. 29 June, 11am-4pm, Main Street. A huge heated marquee with over 30 stalls selling a wide range of local produce from Maldon & beyond. Relax and enjoy delicious regional food and wines. Live music, children's entertainment. Free entry. Proceeds to local community groups.
Mount Alexander Sustainability Group/Tarrangower branch information stall Sun. 29 June, 11am-2pm, Main Street. Sign up for a short 'energy reduction' session, join MASG, share your tips, check out the alternative-energy cars.
Maldon Urban Landcare Stall, Sun. 29 June, 11am-2pm, Main Street. Weed identification, general information and plant sales.
Maldon Authors: Past, Present and Future, from Mon. 30 June to Fri. 19 July, Athenaeum Library, High Street. Special display of past and present authors, books for sale. Mon., Tues., Thurs. & Fri. 2-4pm, Wed. 2-5pm, Sat. 9.30am-12 noon. Gold coin donation. Proceeds to the Library.
Shiraz Appreciation Night Fri. 4 July, 7.30pm, Goldfields Provender, 12 Main St. Bookings essential, limited to 20 people. Admission: $10.
Victorian Amateur Sand Green Championship 2008, Sat. 5 & Sun. 6 July, Maldon Golf Club. 150 players, high-quality golf. Visitors and spectators welcome.
A Writer's Maldon -Sat. 5 & Sun. 6 July - a weekend of activities for writers & readers.
2005 Reds Release, 7pm Sat. 5 July, Chaperon Wines by Candlelight, 135 Gallaghers Lane, Eastville. Wine tasting, 3 course meal incl. a complimentary glass of wine. $40 a head.
Concert Sun. 6 July, 2pm, Holy Trinity Church, High Street. Maldon's Brass Band and items by soloists. Admission: $7, $5 conc., students & children free. Proceeds to the Church building fund.
Olive Oil Tasting Gourmet Yabbies, 46-48 Main Street, Fri. 11 July, 7pm. $15 each, includes a pasta dish using Maldon Olive Grove's range of olive oils. Local wines available, bookings essential.
Antiques Road Show Sat. 12 July, 11am-1pm, Band Hall, Maldon Community Centre, Francis Street. Bring along your old treasures and mystery objects to be evaluated/identified. $2 per item, proceeds to local community groups.
Baringhup Ball Sat. 12 July, 8pm until late, Baringhup Hall, Bourke Street. Rockabilly music and theme, dress up if you feel like it! $25 a ticket, BYO drinks, supper provided. Bookings essential. Proceeds to Baringhup Hall Committee.
Thomas & Friends - Sat. 12 & Sun 13 July, at the Maldon Railway Station. Heaps of family fun.
Tour of the Maldon Walking Track, Sun. 13 July, 9am, meet at the Beehive Chimney. Walk the new track to Anzac Hill with Parks Victoria's Noel Muller. No charge. You're welcome to stay on and join the regular Anzac Hill working bee after your walk.
Bastille Day Gourmet Dinner Mon. 14 July, 6.30pm for 7pm, Penny School, 11 Church Street. Five-course degustation preceded by hors d'oeuvre and comp. glass of fine French champagne. $95 per person, bookings essential.
Madrigal Mystery Tour Concert Thurs. 17 July, from 6.30pm for dinner. $5 admission, music starts at around 7.30pm. A capella singing at its very best.
Historic Garden and Tree tour with local writer and historian Peter Cuffley, Sat. 19 July, 2.30pm, meet at the Maldon VIC. Free.
Poker Night Maldon Football Clubrooms, Sat. 19 July. No further details available at this time, but this should be a great night's entertainment.
Maldon forty years on: triumph or tragedy? - presentation by Professor Miles Lewis, Sun. 20 July, 2.30pm, Maldon Community Centre, Francis Street. An initiative of Maldon Action. Admission: $5.
