The Baringhup ~ Maldon Community Bus is a resource for the people of Baringhup & Maldon. It provides affordable transport for those people who are isolated or disadvantaged, as well as those who wish to be actively involved in events or interests that they cannot access through existing public transport in Baringhup and Maldon.
The bus is available for hire by groups and individuals at the very reasonable rates of $125 per day (24 hours, up to 250kms – 35c/km thereafter) (+ fuel). Short term hire is $15 per hour (min 2 hours, up to 30kms – 35c/km thereafter). There is a discount for community groups ($100 per day or $12 per hour, and the distance rules apply as above).
With a seating capacity of 12 (11 plus the driver), the cost per person can be a fraction of other forms of transport.

Community Transport Service
Community transport services will pick up from residential houses and take people door to door between Baringhup, Maldon, Castlemaine, Chewton, Barkers Creek, Campbells Creek and around the town of Castlemaine.
Please call the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre on 03 5475 2093 the day before to book your seat.
The bus was funded by a generous grant from the Maldon & District Community Bank, together with other funding from the Victorian government, the Shire of Mount Alexander and local community organisations – Baringhup Landcare and the Baringhup Community Committee.
The Baringhup ~ Maldon Community Bus has recently been transferred to the Maldon Neighbourhood Centre who are working to increase transport options for our local communities.
The Maldon Neighbourhood Centre Coordinator and a volunteer Booking Officer manage the day-to-day operation of the bus together with a dedicated team of volunteer drivers and support from from a volunteer working group.
