Bike rides around Historic Maldon
Historic Bike Rides around Maldon
Explore some of the unique gold-mining landscapes and heritage within the Maldon Historic Reserve and Maldon township, where there are many fascinating gold-mining sites right at our doorsteps. Maldon is not only Australia’s First Notable Town (classified by the National Trust) but enjoys the pleasure of being encircled by spectacular natural bush lands that contain abundant cultural and natural heritage.
Discover some of our many gold mine relics and historic features on four individual, self-guided bike riding routes. All four routes begin and end at the Maldon Post Office, where there is ample parking along High St. (refer to the map at the front of the booklet).
Each route has unique highlights, with points of interest and suggested picnic spots along the way. Each route is a loop and (mostly) an easy-moderate level, and designed to be fun and leisurely. There are two short and two longer routes, suitable for novice and regular riders. The routes include both sealed and gravel roads and a hybrid, mountain or gravel bike is recommended.
