The Great Maldon Teddy Bear Adventure

Saturday 11th July | 10am-4pm

Hundreds of Teddy Bears to Take Over Historic Maldon in a Magical Midwinter Adventure

This winter, Maldon will transform into a storybook wonderland as teddy bears and the people who love them descend upon the town for a heartwarming day of nostalgia, whimsy and family joy.

Held throughout the historic village, this free community event will feature an indoor enchanted forest picnic experience, teddy bear themed village adventures, a teddy bear parade, live music, storytelling, art workshops, surprise performances and even a Teddy Bear Hospital for beloved bears in need of a little care.

At the heart of the event, the Maldon Progress Hall will be transformed into a magical indoor forest. A place for children and families to gather with picnic rugs and favourite bears, safe from the winter chill.

The idea was born from a desire to create something joyful, gentle and deeply nostalgic.  An experience that reconnects generations and brings warmth to winter.

Across Maldon’s celebrated heritage streetscape, shop windows will come alive with spectacular teddy bear displays as traders join in the fun. Families will be invited to follow a clue filled Teddy Bear Trail through the village, discovering surprises along the way.

Children can enjoy face painting, fairy floss and hands on activities including painting their teddy bear in art workshops and dancing to teddy bear songs . Families can also settle in for a free screening of Paddington 2 thanks to Maldon Golden Movies.

For visitors wanting the full storybook experience, the historic Victorian Goldfields Railway will run special Teddy Bear Express steam train experiences, bringing families into town for the festivities. Departing from Castlemaine Station at 10.45am and 2pm (see Goldfields Explorer -www.vgr.com.au)

Adding to the community spirit, local schools and preschools are helping bring the enchanted forest to life through creative contributions, while students from Maldon Primary School will help judge village teddy bear window displays.

Organisers hope the event will not only delight children but also encourage visitors to stay longer, preorder picnics from Maldon’s cafés, bakeries, tearooms and explore unique independent shops during the winter school holidays.

Families are encouraged to pack a picnic and bring their favourite teddy bear for a pawsome adventure.
